On Friday, April 20, 2007 flyerman152 had this to say about 96C... I flew in here this morning to check out the American Champion Aircraft manufacturing plant (where they make planes such as the Citabria, Decathlon, Scout, and Champ). It's a neat little airport with a 2500' runway (easy for my Cessna 152). There's ample parking, and I just chose one of the empty spots (no tiedowns). I walked around a little and found that to the side of the main hangar is a door for visitors. I went in and asked if I could peek around the plant. They offered me a tour guide, and off we went. My tour guide was a man who was with the company for many years, is an A&P-IA, and was extremely helpful/knowledgeable. It's a really neat place to visit (or order a Decathlon for me). My tour took about 40 minutes, and the guide said that walk-ins are fine (no reservation necessary). I would highly recommend visiting Fox River Airport (96C).
